Hi Guys, My name is Krishnadev P Melevila, Unlike my regular writeups, today I am sharing my experience in delivering a session on security testing at Signal School, INS Kochi.

Currently, I am on my intern period at Ozone Cybersecurity, So on 27–08–2023, I got a call from my TL, who told me that we have an urgent requirement for a CEH trainer for INS Kochi.

But as it was short notice, We had no time to find one, So he assigned the task for us (me and my Friend Jerin Manoj).

He asked us to represent Ozone Cybersecurity at INS Kochi to deliver the sessions. But the shocking issue was that The session should be delivered on 28–08–2023 (which means, less than 8 hours to practice the topics.)

But, as a responsible intern, We took up the task and promised him that we could proceed with it.

He also gave some instructions like, We should reach there at 8 AM, Punctuality is very much followed at INS. He asked for our ID proofs And even the laptop's serial number.

So, on 28–08–2023, 8 AM we reached the Travancore gate of INS Kochi as informed us earlier. We have assigned an escort from the INS, we called him and informed him about our arrival. He again asked for our ID proofs, Laptop serial number, Vehicle details, etc…

Travancore gate INS Kochi

Me and Jerin were quite nervous after seeing the security checks, It was a well-defined procedure, and it took almost 1 hour to complete the security and verification process.

But unfortunately, we were not in the professional dress code, We didn't get information about that, and also as Jerin came in his vehicle, we both needed to travel in that to the inside, but there was no entry from the gate without a helmet, unfortunately, we have only one helmet. But thanks to our escort, he went inside and took an extra helmet for us.

After that, we entered the gate, We headed to Signal School INS, We were well-treated by the officials, they did some paperwork and after that, they gave our way to the conference hall.

There are two batches, the Advanced and basic ones. We started with the advanced batch, and Jerin took the theoretical part for the first 1.5 hrs.

After that 1.5 hr, They told us that there would be a 20-minute break session. after break we need to split the class, Jerin will take the theoretical part in the basic batch, and at the same time, I need to cover the practical part in the advanced batch.

So after the break, I covered sessions on Android hacking, Web application hacking, Reading my bug bounty reports, Social engineering attacks, Password cracking, Software testing, etc.. We covered a vast area of topics, mainly concentrating on the practical side.

By around 1 PM, we winded up the class, I just cleared the doubts, shared my contact number, and made some connections with officials and staff.

Around 1:15 PM, We again went for the paper clearance for the exit, and around 1:45 PM, we exited the gate.

This was my day with INS. I am so happy and glad to deliver this session. It is very rare and special to enter into the navy campus. So I always keep this day as special in my heart. I was wondering about the navy equipments and all, the infrastructure inside the campus, the radars, domes etc…I can't disclose everything here due to security issues.

The day was great and thanks to Ozone Cybersecurity and INS officials for giving us this kind of opportunity.
